I have been out of luck at any fishing spots in Matsue City for a long time. So this morning I abandoned Matsue and decided to try the neighboring city, Izumo. I chose Uppurui-bana, which is famous for its delicious nori (black tasty seaweed). I used to go to fishing spots in Izumo City, such as Uppurui-bana, more frequently, but, the more I knew fishing spots in Matsue City, the less frequent my visit to the neighboring city became. While overlooking the vast Uppurui Bay from the path in the woods toward Uppurui-bana, I felt my memories refreshed. There was a pair of lure fishermen at Ohbira, a wide flat area of Uppurui-bana. I had an opportunity to chat with one of them. He said they came from outside Shimane Prefecture for the yellowtail amberjack. I was happy to give him some advice for catching the fish, but, obviously, the one who really needed good advice was me.
（松江市の釣り場ではずっと釣れていません。そこで今朝は、松江を見捨てて、隣の出雲市に行ってみることにしました。選んだのは、海苔（美味しい黒色の海草）がおいしいことで有名な十六島鼻です。以前は、もっとちょくちょく、十六島鼻など出雲市の釣り場に行っていたのですが、松江市の釣り場を知れば知るほど、隣の市に行く機会は減っていきました。十六島鼻に向かう林道から広大な十六島湾を眺めていると、記憶が蘇ってきました。十六島鼻にある幅広い平地である大平に、二人組みのルアー釣り師がいました。そのうちの一人とおしゃべりをする機会がありました。聞けば、島根県外からヒラマサを狙いに来たとのこと。私は喜んでヒラマサを釣るためのアドバイスをしましたが、良いアドバイスを本当に必要としていたのは、当然ながら、私の方なのでした。）
