(No. 791) “One Idiot at Empty Sea,” Sci-fi Blockbuster Film at Takasaki-bana in Mitsu (御津の高崎鼻にて大ヒットSF映画『空っぽの海に馬鹿ひとり』)

I love sci-fi and horror films. While throwing my favorite lures in vain from Takasaki-bana in Mitsu this morning, I was fantasizing about one sci-fi film. In my daydream I was the protagonist of the film. By 2030 most fish had died off due to massive environmental pollution. Fishing industries, regardless of whether professional or amateur, were fatally hit, and all manufacturers of fishing gear went out of business. Even Daiwa and Shimano went bankrupt. All the professional fishermen gave up fishing and sought for another job. All the amateur fishermen gave up fishing and sought for another hobby. There was only one fisherman left on the earth. He had been a practitioner of self-invented “Non-fishing” before the extinction of fish, and that’s why the extinction didn’t affect him at all. As he had done before the extinction, he keeps going to the rocky shore of the Shimane Peninsula today and throwing his favorite lures… And, one day he catches something. It is a beautiful fish, which all the biologists have declared extinct…

（私はSF映画やホラー映画が大好きです。今朝、御津の高崎鼻からお気に入りのルアーを無益に投げながら、私は、あるSF映画を空想していました。その空想の中では、私がその映画の主人公でした。2030年までに、大規模な環境汚染により、ほとんどの魚が死滅してしまいます。釣り業界は、プロ・アマ問わず、致命的な打撃を受け、釣具メーカーはすべて倒産するのです。ダイワやシマノまでもが破産です。プロの漁師は皆、漁業をあきらめて別の仕事を探しました。アマチュアの釣り人は、釣りをあきらめて別の趣味を探しました。この地球上にたった一人だけ、釣り人が残りました。彼は、魚が絶滅する以前から、自ら考案した「無魚釣り」を実践していたため、魚が絶滅しても全く影響を受けなかったのです。絶滅前と同様、彼は今日も島根半島の磯に出かけ、お気に入りのルアーを投げ続けます…。そして、ある日、彼は何かを釣り上げるのです。それは、生物学者の誰もが絶滅を宣言していた、１匹の美しい魚でした…。） 

Then I came to myself. “This must be a good film,” I said to myself. When I was daydreaming the sci-fi blockbuster, which would be titled “One Idiot at Empty Sea,” someone had arrived at Ohira, nearby fishing spot to the east of Takasaki-bana. Ohira is pretty close to Takasaki-bana, but it is extremely difficult to walk to Ohira directly from Takasaki-bana due to the perpendicular cliff between them. So I swam. I reached Ohira by sea, not by land. I had a short but very nice chat with the lure fisherman at Ohira. Swimming back to Takasaki-bana, I said to myself, “Maybe I am not alone in the film. I should see someone who is as peculiar as me!”

 （そして私は我に返りました。「これはいい映画になるに違いない」と私は思いました。題名は『空っぽの海に馬鹿ひとり』となる大ヒットSF映画を私が空想している間に、高崎鼻のすぐ東にある、大平という釣り場に、誰かがやって来ていました。大平は高崎鼻のすぐ近くにあるのですが、両者の間には直角に切り立った崖があるため、直接歩いて行くことは極めて困難です。ですので私は泳ぎました。陸路ではなく海路を通って大平にたどり着きました。大平のルアー釣り師と、短いながらもとても良いおしゃべりができました。高崎鼻に泳いで戻りながら、私は思いました。「映画の中で、俺は一人ぼっちではないかもしれないな。きっと、自分と同じぐらい変わった人物に出会うはずだ！」）
