I would like to sell my extra PENN Torque 5 bail-less spinning reel, which is new and completely unused, with the box including all accessories. I bought this reel in 2013, when I was in New York, as a backup in case my current Torque 5 would be broken in Japan, but now I don’t feel it is necessary. So there is a chance for a good reader of my blog in Japan to get this “Made in the USA” reel.

Please note that this is a bail-less reel, which is rare in Japan but is often used in the U.S. primarily for surf fishing, not boat fishing. In my humble opinion, a bail-less reel should be more popular among Japanese surf fishermen too. Personally I have never felt I would need a bailed reel for my fishing style. The selling price is 77,000 yen plus a delivery charge (if necessary). It must be considerably cheaper than buying it through importers. I will even add a PENN reel cover to it for free. If you can come to the neighborhood of Matsue-Shinjiko-Onsen Station, I will show you how to use a bail-less reel in person at Lake Shinji and give you an opportunity to actually see and feel the reel. Even if you don’t plan to buy the reel and you are interested only in seeing it, you are very welcome. You can also see how a bail-less reel works on this YouTube video. Mr. Zeno Hromin (Surfcaster's Journal) and Mr. Ron DiCostanzo (ZeeBaaS) discussed advantages of a bail-less reel and then showed how to use it with a ZeeBaaS reel, one of famous brands of a bail-less spinning reel. “Although there is a situation on a boat that the bailed might be useful for, in surf casting, to be honest, it is nothing but trouble,” Mr. Hromin said. I do not entirely agree to him, but I prefer the simpler form of a bail-less reel. It looks cool.
