A total of six lure fishermen were
standing at Ohtoko-bana in Izumo City early this morning. I was one of them.
Because the spot was almost crowded when I arrived before 7 a.m., I moved to the
tip of another rock behind the one that directly
faces the ocean and other five fishermen were standing at. I kind of like the tip
because you can cast lures toward the bay behind Ohtoko-bana as well as toward the
ocean. I cast my lures alternately toward the bay side and the ocean side, the
former of which was for Japanese sea bass and the latter for some more pelagic
fish such as yellowtail amberjacks.
（今日は朝早くから合計６人のルアー釣り師が出雲市の大床鼻に立っていました。私はそのうちの一人でした。私が到着した７時前にはもう釣り場はほぼ満員だったので、私は、大海に面していて他の５人の釣り師が立つ岩の後ろにある、別の岩の先端に移動しました。私はなんとなくその先端が好きなのです。なぜならそこからは、大海方向ばかりでなく、大床鼻の背面にあたる入り江方向にもルアーをキャストできるからです。私は、入り江方向へのキャストと大海方向へのキャストを交互に繰り返しました。入江方向はスズキ狙い、大海方向は、より遠洋系の魚、例えばヒラマサ狙いです。）
However, no one caught any fish at least
until 9 a.m., except one fisherman who caught a medium-sized fat Japanese
amberjack with a Japanese topwater plug classified as a "diving pencil." I
witnessed all the exciting actions, from the strike on the surface with a big splash
to his successful landing the fish. At 9 a.m. I left the spot earlier than usual. I wanted to save my energy because I might go again to Etomo Harbor this
evening expecting boils to appear again.
（しかし、ダイビング・ペンシルというタイプに分類される日本製のトップウォーター・プラグを使って、丸々とした中型のブリ（マルゴに近い大きさ）を釣られたお一人を除き、少なくとも午前９時までは誰も何も釣れませんでした。私は、大きな飛沫を伴う水面でのストライクから、その男性が無事に魚を釣り上げるまでの、刺激的な展開のすべてを目撃しました。私は、いつもより早目の午前９時に釣り場を離れました。再びナブラが立つのを期待し、今夕、また恵曇港に行くかもしれないと思い、体力を温存したのです。）
