According to the website of one of local tackle shops, there have been plenty of young Japanese Spanish mackerels in Etomo Harbor. Usually I don’t go to a fishing spot at which they say they have been catching fish. I am a so-called “non-fisherman” and I am not desperate, for good or for evil. But this evening somehow I felt like catching fish a bit more than usual. So I went to Nanbo in Etomo Harbor after catching no fish at Kurauchi Bay. There were a lot of baitfish swimming around Nanbo. I primarily used one of my smaller metal jigs. There should have been plenty of young Japanese Spanish mackerels, but nothing happened to my metal jig. I just saw two splashes in the distance, probably caused by some baitfish escaping from the predators. My line might have been too thick for the fish. I am a lazy fisherman that keeps using a heavy tackle for catching the yellowtail amberjack regardless of target fish.
