The snapper popper rig, which I introduced several days ago to the chinu (Japanese black porgies) fishing in Lake Shinji, has not yet produced any results other than “No Fish.” Today I decided to use only Guppy pencil poppers for a change. No winds are blowing, and the surface of the lake is calm and flat, so only maneuvering these pencil poppers on the surface is very fun. Several years ago these pencil poppers often got strikes from the Japanese sea bass, but in recent years it’s kind of rare for the fish to break the surface and attack the pencil popper. Although those who fish by boat seem to catch as many fish as before, some say there are fewer Japanese sea bass along the shore of the lake. I think I have to agree with them.
