After seeing the website of one local fishing shop, I got the impression that there were plenty of Japanese sea bass in the Ohashi River and Lake Nakaumi. I felt I would definitely catch one nice fish this afternoon because I had successfully finished a translation assignment this morning. Strangely, I felt one success should be followed by another success. So I selected today’s lures from my arsenal more carefully than usual. Usually I choose lures that I just want to throw. I rarely select lures on the basis of their likelihood of catching fish. But today I deliberated over which lures could be most effective in catching the fish. It was under Nakaumi Ohashi Bridge that I started today’s fishing. Nothing happened there. I found a plug left on the shore, and it was so small that I got amazed. The plug even looked as big as a barbless single hook of one of my lures. “Normal fishermen use such a small plug, huh?” I gave the plug to a lure fisherman who was throwing his lures nearby. Then I went to the Iu River and Omisaki Bridge. I didn’t see any lure fisherman except for the one to whom I gave the small lure. My deliberation didn’t make any difference today.
