(No. 593) Goodbye, My Hookless Fishing (さよなら、私の無針釣り)

The so-called ‘Golden Week’ holidays ended 3 days ago. All regions in Japan are still under the state of emergency, but some local governments relaxed antivirus restrictions that they had asked the citizens to apply to themselves. In line with this development, I lifted my own restriction: hookless fishing. I had not wanted to catch a fish especially during the ‘Golden Week’ because I was afraid that the catch could look tempting on this blog. The ‘Golden Week’ was over, and I felt allowed to catch a fish. So this morning I went to Lake Shinji with two ‘hooked’ lures. I said to myself, “Goodbye, my hookless fishing.” Sadly, I was not able to catch a fish even using a ‘hooked’ lure. （いわゆるゴールデン・ウィークは、３日前に終わりました。今もまだ日本全土が緊急事態宣言下にありますが、地方政府の中には、市民に守るよう要請していた感染防止のための規制を緩和したところもあります。この動きに合わせて、私も自分の規制、つまり無針釣りという規制を撤廃しました。私はとりわけゴールデン・ウィーク中は魚を釣りたくありませんでした。なぜなら、このブログで紹介するその釣果が、人の欲望をそそってしまうことを恐れたからです。しかしゴールデン・ウィークは終わったので、私は、これで魚を釣ることが許されたように感じました。そこで私は今朝、２つの“針有り”ルアーを持って宍道湖へ行きました。私は心の中で思いました。「さよなら、私の無針釣り」。悲しいことに“針有り”ルアーを使っても、私に魚は釣れませんでした。ところで話は変わりますが、感染爆発に対するソーシャル・ディスタンシングについてのとても短い歌を作り、発表しました。日本語の歌です。もしも日本語が分かれば、楽しめるかもしれませんよ。ご興味があればここをクリック。ではご無事で！）
