A series of typhoons is attacking Japan, and the weather in my region, the Sanin Region, has been rough, although the degree of damage is much smaller compared to other regions. I have been unable to go fishing, so I embarked on another kind of activity; I scraped off the paint of my My PENN Fathom II 25N LD reel and exposed its aluminum body. Since I obtained the lever drag reel, I have been fond of it. I can even say the PENN Fathom II 25N LD is the best conventional reel for my fishing, but it’s not perfect. The silver paint on the body easily chips off. Even if it’s not touched with anything, the paint keeps chipping off, and the black layer beneath it keeps appearing here and there. It looks so cheap, and probably it actually is, and probably that’s one of the reasons why the PENN Fathom II is not expensive. I am grateful for its cheapness but don't like the look. So I scraped off all the paint with the help of solvent. The dull luster of exposed aluminum looks much better. Unfortunately my photos don’t show the new look very well, but now I am more satisfied with the reel.
（一連の台風が日本を襲っており、私の住む山陰地方も、他の地域に比べれば被害は少ないものの、荒れ気味の天候です。釣りに行けないので、私は別の活動に取り掛かりました。愛用しているPENN Fathom II 25N LDリールの塗装を剥がし、アルミボディを露出させたのです。このレバードラグリールを手に入れて以来、ずっと愛用しています。私の釣りにとってはベストな両軸リールと言っても過言ではないと思いますが、完璧ではありません。ボディの銀色の塗装が剥がれやすいのです。何も触れていないのに塗装は剥がれ続け、その下の黒い層がところどころに現れ続けます。とても安っぽく見えますし、実際に安物なのだと思います。そして、おそらくそれが、このリールが安価である理由の一つなのでしょう。安価であることはありがたいのですが、やはり見た目が好きになれません。そこで、溶剤の助けを借りて、塗装をすべて剥がしました。むき出しになったアルミの鈍い光沢の方が、ずっと素敵です。残念ながら、私の撮った写真ではこの新しい外観がうまく伝わらないと思いますが、このリールにますます満足しています。）
