(No. 1196) “Coffee Bean,” My New Favorite Formerly Known as “Reincarnation” (「コーヒー豆」、かつて「生まれ変わり」と呼ばれた私の新しいお気に入り)

This is today’s second post. As soon as I posted the first one, I went to Lake Shinji with the “Reincarnation” lure, which I had found this morning on the rocky shore around Safuki-bana in Nonami. I wanted to know how far the lure could fly, but the result was disappointing. The lure was too light for its body shape. So I decided to give it additional weight. It had some liquid inside although there was no crack on the body. So I drilled a small hole in it to drain the liquid from the lure. The inside liquid seemed just freshwater. After I emptied the lure, I injected fresher freshwater into it, using a syringe, until the lure reached 200 grams (The emptied lure weighed 70 grams, which means I added 130 grams of water). Why 200 grams? Because the max lure weight my Okinawa Manbika C100SSXH-P3 rod can handle is 200 grams.

（本日２回目の投稿です。最初の投稿をしてすぐに、今朝、野波のサフキ鼻周辺の磯で見つけたルアー「生まれ変わり」を持って宍道湖へ行ってきました。このルアーがどこまで飛ぶのか知りたかったのですが、結果は残念なものでした。ボディの形状の割に軽すぎるのです。そこで私は、重さを加えることにしました。ボディには亀裂はないのですが、ルアーの内部に液体が入っていました。その液体を排出するために、ルアーに小さな穴を開けました。中の液体は、どうやらただの淡水のようでした。ルアーを空にした後、注射器を使って、ルアーが 200 グラムになるまで、より新鮮な淡水を注入しました（空になったルアーの重さは 70 グラムでした。つまり、130 グラムの水を追加したことになります）。なぜ200グラムなのでしょう？　 私のオキナワ・マンビカC100SSXH-P3ロッドが扱えるルアーの最大重量が200グラムだからです。）

I went to the lake again with the now heavier “Reincarnation” lure. The casting distance was improved, and the lure swam better but was too heavy for me to throw comfortably. So I drilled a small hole again and drained 32 grams of water. Now it weighs 168 grams. Why 168 grams? It is approximately 6 ounces, the max lure weight my 11’ Lamiglas Insane surf rod can handle. When I was working on this lure, I realized it looked like a coffee bean. So I changed the name. Now it is called “Coffee Bean.” Tomorrow I try it again.
