The swell had gotten weaker by the time I reached Saruwatari this morning. So it was easier to jump over the narrow channel to reach the fishing spot. Except for that, everything seemed the same as yesterday morning. The water around Saruwatari still looked very promising. A vicious strike seemed to happen at any moment. How deceptive the sea was! However hard I tried, nothing happened at all.
（今朝、猿渡に到着した時には、うねりはもう弱まっていました。ですので、例の狭い水道を飛び越えて釣り場に行くのは容易でした。その点を除けば、何もかも昨日の朝と同じように思えました。猿渡周辺の海は、やはり、すごく釣れそうに見えました。今にも獰猛なストライクが起きそうでした。海ってやつは、なんて見掛け倒しなのでしょう！ どれだけ頑張っても、何も起きませんでした。）
