The swell was almost too strong for me to jump over the narrow channel to reach Saruwatari this morning, but I managed to do it because the water around the fishing spot looked very promising. In addition, I really wanted to catch a yellowtail amberjack this morning for some reason. I even took out two tackles, one was a spinning tackle and the other was a conventional tackle. That’s very rare for me. I was eager to catch the fish much more than usual. Ah, I wish the fishing were a simpler thing. I wish the fishing were so simple that the more eager a fisherman became the more fish he/she could catch. But, sadly, that’s never the case.
（今朝はうねりがとても強く、猿渡へ行くために飛び越えねばならない例の狭い水道を危うく飛び越えられないところでしたが、私は何とか飛び越えました。釣り場周辺の海がすごく釣れそうな感じに見えたのです。加えて今朝の私は、なぜだかどうしても、ヒラマサを釣りたいと考えていました。タックルを２つ持ち込んでさえいたのです。スピニング・タックルと両軸タックルです。私としては非常に珍しいことです。私は、いつもよりもずっと強く、魚を釣りたいと熱望していました。ああ、釣りがもっと単純なものであればよかったのに。釣りがもっと単純なもので、釣り人が熱望すればするほど魚がよく釣れる、ということであればよかったのに。しかし悲しいかな、現実は決してそうではないのでした。）
