The waves were too high to get to Saruwatari in Nonami this morning. So I decided to try either Maruiwa or Susumi-hana in Owashi. Standing at the top of the small hill between those two fishing spots, I wondered which spot could be safer. Maruiwa looked less affected by the swell, but one lure fisherman was already there. So I walked toward Susumi-hana, where I found it difficult to use my lures comfortably due to the strong swell. Then I noticed the fisherman at Maruiwa waving his hands vigorously to me.
（今朝は、波が高過ぎて、野波の猿渡には行けませんでした。そこで私は、大芦の丸岩か須々海鼻のどちらかを試すことにしました。それら２つの釣り場の間にある丘のてっぺんに立ち、どちらがより安全か考えました。うねりの影響をあまり受けていないように見えたのは丸岩でしたが、そこには既に一人のルアー釣り師の姿がありました。そこで私は須々海鼻に向かったのですが、強いうねりのせいでルアーを快適に使うのは困難な状況でした。すると私は、丸岩にいる釣り人が、こちらに向かって熱心に手を振っているのに気づいたのです。）
I was not sure who he was, but I waved back. Then I realized one of my fishing buddies just called me. I was pleasantly surprised because I did not expect to see him at any fishing spots in Matsue for a certain reason. A short while later, I was called from behind. He came to Susumi-hana all the way just to invite me to share Maruiwa together. When I was throwing my lures along with him at Maruiwa, I noticed another fisherman walking toward Susumi-hana, around which the swell looked still too dangerous. I waved to him to come to Maruiwa, and he recognized my invitation. To my surprise, he was also an acquaintance of mine. The three of us enjoyed sharing Maruiwa together, although no one caught any fish as long as all of us were there.
（いったい誰なのか分からなかったものの、私は手を振り返しました。そして私は、釣り友達の一人から今しがた電話があったことに気づきました。嬉しい驚きでした。なぜならその人は、とある理由から、松江の釣り場で会うことはないだろうと私が考えていた人だったからです。少しして、背後から私を呼ぶ声がありました。彼は丸岩で一緒に釣ろうと私を誘うため、わざわざ須々海鼻まで歩いてきてくれたのです。丸岩で彼と並んでルアーを投げていると、須々海鼻へ向かって歩いていく別の釣り人の姿が見えました。須々海鼻周辺は、うねりがまだ危険そうでした。こちらに来るよう、彼に手を振ると、彼は私の招待に気づいてくれました。驚いたことに、彼もまた、私の知り合いだったのです。私たち３人は丸岩を楽しく共有しました。３人がそこにいる間は、誰にも何も釣れなかったものの。）
