According to the weather app on my iPhone 8, the rain should not be falling, but it actually was. Because I had too much confidence in my iPhone when I left my home this early morning, I ended up impatiently waiting for the rain to stop in my car at Mitsu Harbor. The rain didn’t stop, but I noticed a fraction of clear blue sky in the distance. I drove toward it and arrived at Kaka Harbor, where no rain was falling. I started fishing there and subsequently went to Nijigasaki in Owashi and to Senjojiki in Mitsu, where I met a smiling reader of this blog and had a nice chat with him.

There were neither baitfish nor predatory fish. So today’s fishing became more like casting practice with my Newell G235-F reel. During the practice it occurred to me that I should place my thumb on the flange of the spool not only to adjust the spin of the spool after the release of it but also to hold the spool before the release. In order to hold the spool before its release, I used to place my thumb on the middle of the spool, but now I can more securely control the spool thanks to this epiphany.
