Tsuyu, the Japanese rainy season, was over in my region much earlier than usual. Instead of seasonal rain, what we had been afraid came much earlier: a heat wave. When I started throwing my lures around 6 a.m. this morning, the tip of Ikesu was in the shade. The sun had been already up but it was still lower the top of mountain behind me. The air was fresh, breezy, and cool. Standing at Ikesu was almost like standing at a heaven on earth. 30 minutes or so later, as soon as the sun showed up above the mountain, Ikesu got directly exposed to the sunlight. It instantly became a hell on earth.
