Since my last post I have been to Lake Shinji many times (I gave up counting). Japanese sea bass in the lake have not been very kind to me. Probably not only to me but also to anyone who throw lures from the shore. I have not seen anyone catching the fish except when I saw a man on a boat catching one. This morning I went to Safuki-bana in Nonami for a change. Thanks to my cutting weeds the other day, I reached the fishing spot comfortably without getting tired. The sea was too clear and calm, and the current was not running. My topwater lures left lingering bubbles on the surface, which means the water was stagnant. The conditions were not good for fishing but good for seeing how my lures move. I got impressed with the action of my GT Ice Cream lure, which I recently found at one of local second-hand tackle shops. GT Ice Cream lures originated in South Africa, but its current distributor seems in Florida. So I think I am narrowly allowed to treat them as American lures. After my observation, I realized I could use them in two ways: the way I use surface plugs such as Roberts and the way I use pencil poppers such as Guppy. I love it.
（前回の投稿以来、宍道湖には何度も（もう数え切れないほど）行っています。しかし、湖のスズキは私にあまり優しくないのです。おそらく私だけでなく、岸からルアーを投げる人全員に対して、そうでしょう。ボートに乗っている釣り人が釣っているのを見た時以外、釣れている人を見たことがありません。今朝は、気分転換に野波のサフキ鼻に行ってきました。先日の草刈りのおかげで、疲れることなく快適に釣り場に到着できました。海は透明度が高く穏やかで、潮も流れていません。私のトップウォーター・ルアーは、なかなか消えない泡を水面に残します。つまり水が淀んでいる、ということなのです。釣りには良い状況ではありませんでしたが、ルアーの動きを見るには良い状況でした。最近、地元の中古釣具店で見つけたGTアイスクリームの動きに感動しました。GTアイスクリームは南アフリカ発祥のルアーですが、現在の販売元はフロリダにあるようです。なので、アメリカン・ルアーとして扱っても、かろうじて大丈夫でしょう。観察してみると、２通りの使い方があることに気づきました。ロバーツのようなサーフェス・プラグを使う時の方法と、グッピーのようなペンシル・ポッパーを使う時の方法です。とても気に入りました。）
