This afternoon I drove to Omisaki Bridge, which lies in the western shore of Lake Nakaumi. I knew it was too early for me to catch a big Japanese sea bass around the bridge on my big plugs, but I just wanted to throw my lures as usual. There were three bait fishermen when I arrived at the bridge about 4 p.m. One of the fishermen said to me, “No lure fishermen hasn’t caught the fish this season. Even though I saw twelve of them the other day.” Although I was not disappointed with the info at all, I courteously replied to him, “Oh. That’s a bummer.” As usual, I was able to be happy just to throw my lures.
（今日の午後は、中海の西岸に位置する大海崎橋に行きました。大きなプラグで大きなスズキを釣るにはまだ時期が早過ぎると承知していましたが、例によって私は、ただルアーを投げたかっただけなのです。午後４時頃に橋に到着してみると、３人のエサ釣り師の姿がありました。そのうちの一人が私に言いました。「ルアーの人にはなんだい釣れちょらんよ。こないだなんか12人もルアーを投げちょったに」。その情報を耳にしても決して失望したわけではないのですが、「ああ、それは残念」と私は礼儀正しく言いました。いつものように私は、ルアーを投げるだけで幸せになれたのです。）
