When I was reaching Safuki-bana in Nonami this morning, I saw some birds hovering above the surface of the water in the distance. I got excited. It seemed beyond my casting distance, but I got tempted to throw my lures toward it right away. I reminded myself that I had to restrain my emotions because I had to climb over and down a few more treacherous rocks to reach the fishing spot. The birds were still there when I reached it at last, but it was obvious that they were way beyond my casting distance. My lures couldn’t reach them, and I was not sure whether there were some fish under the birds, but I felt Spring was just around the corner.
（今朝、野波のサフキ鼻に到達しようとしていた時、遠くの水面上を旋回する鳥が見えました。私は興奮しました。私のキャスティングでは届きそうにない距離でしたが、私はただちにルアーを投げたくなりました。私は、気持ちを落ち着かせるよう自分に言い聞かせました。釣り場に到達するには越えていかねばならない油断のならない岩が、まだ、もう２つ３つ残っていたからです。ついに釣り場に到達してみると、鳥たちはまだそこにいましたが、私のキャスティングではとても届かない距離であることが明らかでした。ルアーは届きませんでしたし、鳥たちの下に果たして魚がいたのかどうか定かではありませんでしたが、春の到来が近いように感じました。）
