My last visit to the Ketakake Peninsula in Izumo City was not so much for fishing as for maintaining red tapes along the trail in the woods. Today I visited the peninsula again. More than two years had passed since the last time. Today I wanted to spend more time in fishing, but I ended up spending most of my time and energy in replacing or reinforcing red tapes along the trail. Still, I was able to enjoy throwing my favorite lures from several spots in the peninsula. First, I was standing around Ji-no-kujira, the most eastern tip of the peninsula, but the crosswind was so strong there that I had to give up the spot. Then, I walked back to the root of the peninsula and took another trail leading to the western tips of it. Two nice anglers were throwing lures from Mizushiri, one of the western tips of the peninsula. I had a nice chat with them. They asked me, "Did you come here on foot?" My answer seemed to amaze them. I asked them in return, "Did you guys use a boat?" Smiling, they replied, "Of course.”
（出雲市の桁掛半島を前回訪れた時、私は、釣りというよりは、林の中の小道沿いに張られた赤テープを整備することに忙しかったのでした。今日、再び半島を訪れました。前回から２年以上が経っていました。今日の私は、もっと釣りを楽しみたかったのですが、結局、小道沿いの赤テープの交換あるいは補強に、ほとんどの時間とエネルギーを費やすこととなりました。それでも、半島のいくつかの釣り場で、お気に入りのルアーを投げることができました。最初は半島の東端、「地の鯨」周辺に立っていましたが、横風が強過ぎて諦めざるを得ませんでした。なので、半島の付け根まで歩いて戻ってから、半島の西端へと続く別の小道に入りました。西端の一つ、水尻という釣り場に、ルアーを投げている二人の釣り人の姿がありました。私は彼らと楽しい会話をしました。彼らは私に尋ねました。「ここまで歩いて来たんですか？」。私が答えると、彼らは驚いたようでした。私も彼らに尋ねました。「渡船で来たんですか？」。彼らは笑いながら、「もちろんですよ」と答えました。）
