(No. 1311) Is It Long-term Trend? Japanese Sea Bass in Lake Shinji Apparently Get Fewer and Fewer (長期的傾向？ どうやら宍道湖のスズキがますます減ってる感じ)

I have been to Lake Shinji several times since my last post. I have had no strike so far, although May, as well as June, is supposed to be one of the hottest months for the Japanese sea bass fishing in the lake. Lake Shinji is a huge lake. It has a circumference of 47 kilometers (29 miles) and an area of ​​7,910 hectares, and I almost always fish in a very small area on the north shore of the lake. The area has become even smaller for the past few years due to a construction project on the shore, which keeps putting off its expected completion date. While anglers at other faraway spots might feel differently, I feel the number of Japanese sea bass in the lake has been declining for recent years, and several anglers whom I have met this year on the shore all agreed with me. If it’s a long-term trend, it’s sad and even ominous.
