(No. 1304) No Chinu at Lake Shinji (宍道湖にてチヌの釣果なし)

I was first headed for Saruwatari or Safuki-bana in Nonami this morning, but I noticed a swell moving up and down along the shore of Shimane Peninsula. I decided to make a U-turn to go to Lake Shinji instead. On the northern shore of the lake I found one bait fisherman who was a friend of mine. He was trying to catch Japanese black porgies (chinu) but said he had caught none so far. I used the peculiar rig that I had mentioned on my last post. Using a Tsunami TS Popper as a launcher, I managed to cast a Berkley Power Popper far enough. When I jerked the rig, the bigger front popper and the smaller rear popper made two splashes, which were 1.5 meters apart. I hoped chinu would get intrigued by the double splashes and enticed to swallow the rear smaller popper, but nothing happened. The bait fisherman later said, “Not good today.”

（今朝は、野波の猿渡、もしくはサフキ鼻を目指していましたが、島根半島の岸沿いにうねりが上下しているのに気づいた私は、Ｕターンして、宍道湖へ行くことにしました。湖の北岸で、友人のエサ釣り師に出会いました。彼は黒鯛（チヌ）を狙っていましたが、まだ釣れていないとのことでした。私は、前回の投稿で触れた、ちょっと変わった仕掛けを用いました。ツナミのTSポッパーをランチャーとして用いると、バークレーのパワーポッパーが十分に遠くへと飛んでいきました。そしてジャークすると、前方の大きなポッパーと後方の小さなポッパーが、1.5メートルほど離れた２つの飛沫をあげました。チヌがこのダブル飛沫に関心をもち、後方の小さなポッパーを飲み込んでくれることを期待しましたが、何も起きませんでした。後でエサ釣り師が「今日はダメだわ」と言いました。）
