Just when I was about to climb down to the shore of Kurauchi Bay, a fisherman who had been there climbed up to the parking space. I asked him if he had caught any fish. He said, “No.” Then I asked what fish he had tried to catch. He said, “The Japanese sea bass.” That was the fish I was also trying to catch. Saying to him, “Thank you for the good information,” I wondered if I should go to another fishing spot, but then an idea occurred to me. He had very likely used Japanese lures. “If I catch the fish immediately after he failed, I can prove my American lures are better than his Japanese lures.” So I decided to climb down to the shore. Then I failed, too. Next I tried Nanbo in Etomo Harbor. There were a few fishermen at the chilly breakwater, and all of them said to me that there were no fish.
