With the help of my old classmates at university, I organized an open seminar this Sunday at a small secondhand bookstore in Matsue City, and it was a success. The participants seemed to enjoy the discussion on “The Birth of Politicians,” an out-of-print book published 30 years ago by my late mentor, Tomiharu Tsukada. Now a small book fair is ongoing at the secondhand bookstore, Toeisha, in commemoration of Tsukada’s achievements. Some of his out-of-print books are displayed and on sale, with short introductions I wrote. This morning I finally became free to go fishing. I didn’t see any baitfish around Saruwatari. When the sun came up over the mountain behind me, the inside of the sea suddenly became visible. I was retrieving my Line Stretcher Surface Tension very fast, and I saw one amberjack chasing the surface-skipping plug.
（去る日曜日、大学時代の同級生の協力を得て、松江市内の小さな古本屋において公開セミナーを企画し、盛況に終わりました。私の恩師である、故・塚田富治先生が30年前に出版された絶版本『政治家の誕生』についての議論を、参加者の皆さんは楽しまれたようでした。現在、会場となったその古本屋、冬營舎において、塚田先生の功績を記念した小さなブックフェアが開催されており、絶版となった先生の本のいくつかが、私の短い紹介文付きで、展示販売されています。今朝は、ようやく釣りに出かけられるようになりました。猿渡周辺にベイトフィッシュ（大きな魚の餌となる小魚）は見当たりませんでしたが、背後の山から太陽が昇ると、突然、海中が見えるようになりました。私は、ライン・ストレッチャーのサーフェス・テンションを高速でリトリーブしていました。水面を飛び跳ねるそのプラグを、青物が追いかけていました。）
