The weather forecast said that it would start to rain tomorrow. The Japanese islands are entering the rainy season, which is called “Tsuyu” in Japanese. So I decided to go to Lake Shinji as often as possible today. As a result, I visited the lake two times, early in the morning and evening. I primarily used the Roberts Ranger for today's two outings. I have not yet caught any fish on the topwater lure since I came back to Japan. So I had made a vow to catch a fish on it during this year. I did my best, but no fish responded to it today as usual. At my second outing I found a stag beetle on a rock at the shore. The beautiful insect might have flown to the shore in order to enjoy the famous setting sun over the lake or just to console me.
（天気予報によると、明日から雨が降り始めるそうです。日本列島は「梅雨」と呼ばれる雨期に入りつつあるのです。ですので私は、今日はできるだけ頻繁に、宍道湖へ行くことにしました。その結果、計２回、早朝と夕方、宍道湖を訪れることになりました。２回とも、主にロバーツのレンジャーを使いました。日本に帰国して以来、私はこのトップウォーター・ルアーで魚を釣ったことがありません。そこで私は、今年こそこれで魚を釣ってやろうと誓っているのです。全力を尽くしましたが、例によって今日も、魚からの反応はありませんでした。２度目の釣行の際、湖岸の石の上にクワガタムシを見つけました。あの美しい昆虫は、有名な宍道湖の夕日を眺めたくて、あるいはただ私を励ましたくて、飛んで来たのでしょうか。）
