I started casting my favorite lures toward the Sea of Japan from Saruwatari in Nonami about 6:20 a.m. I love Saruwatari, which has been one of the most productive fishing spots for me since my return to Japan. This morning I primarily used topwater lures as usual, and nothing happened. There was no baitfish around Saruwatari at first, but about 8 a.m. I suddenly found the fishing spot surrounded by a few schools of small fish. I hoped some conditions in the water had changed favorably, but still nothing happened to my lures. Almost giving up fishing, I swam to the nearest tiny isle to take the whole picture of Saruwatari.
（野波の猿渡から日本海へ向けてお気に入りのルアーを投げ始めたのは午前６時20分頃のことでした。私は猿渡が大好きです。私にとっては、日本に帰国して以来、いちばんよく魚が釣れる場所の一つなのです。今朝もいつもと同様、私は主にトップウォーター・ルアーを使いましたが、何も起きませんでした。最初、猿渡の周辺にベイトフィッシュ（大きな魚の餌となる小魚）の姿はありませんでしたが、８時頃に突然、小魚の群れが釣り場を囲んでいることに気づきました。海中の状況が好転したのではないかと期待しましたが、やはり私のルアーには何も起きません。私はほとんど釣りをあきらめてしまい、最寄りの小さな島まで泳いで、猿渡の全貌を撮影しました。）
