When I started
fishing shortly before 6 a.m., the sea was moderately choppy at Setokaze-bana
in Mitsu, and I thought I might catch a nice fish such as Japanese sea bass. These days my
fishing starts always with my Guppy Lure’s 2 oz. Mini, one of American pencil
poppers that I have. I had hooked but eventually missed some fish with the lure, and now I
feel I have to keep using it until I land one. Moving westward from Setokaze-bana,
I did the run-and-gun style fishing. After making a few casts at one spot, I moved
to the next spot and repeated it again.
（午前６時少し前に釣り始めた時、三津の瀨戸風鼻では、海が程よく波立っていたのでした。良い型のスズキか何かが釣れるのではないかと私は思いました。このごろの私の釣りは、所有するアメリカのペンシル・ポッパーの一つ、グッピールアーの２オンス・ミニで常に始まります。私はこのルアーで数匹の魚をかけていますが、結局は逃げられてしまったため、一匹釣り上げるまではこのルアーを使い続けないといけない気になっているのです。瀨戸風鼻から西に向かって移動し、ラン＆ガン方式で釣っていきました。一つの場所で数回キャストしたら、次の場所に移動し、また同じことを繰り返すのです。）
When I reached
Minose-no-nishi, It was almost 8 a.m. I took a short break and turned back.
Although no fish attacked my lures, it was always fun to walk on a rocky shore
with beautiful tide pools. I took many pictures of the scene, but cannot post them. As
usual, I enjoyed sea bathing in one of tide pools, too. It was so fun that I
wanted to take underwater pictures, and it was so fun that I became careless. I
put my iPhone 4S in a waterproof plastic case and slowly swam into the sea with
it. The phone soon stopped working. I remembered that the case was indeed
waterproof but not recommended for underwater use. It was too late.
（「美野瀬の西」に到達した時は、ほとんど午前８時になっていました。私は短い休憩を取ってから引き返しました。魚は私のルアーを攻撃してこなかったものの、美しい潮だまりのある磯を歩くのは常に楽しいのでした。風景写真をたくさん撮ったのですが、お見せすることはできません。例によって私は、潮だまりの一つで、海水浴も楽しみました。とても楽しかったので水中写真を撮りたくなり、とても楽しかったので注意力が散漫になっていました。私はiPhone 4Sを、防水性のプラスチックケースに入れて、ゆっくりと海に入って行きました。じきに電話機は動かなくなりました。そのケースには確かに防水性はあったのですが、水中での使用は避けるべきだと言われていたのを私は思い出しました。しかし、時すでに遅しでした。）
自業自得とは言え、心中お察し致します。

ReplyDelete「自業自得」は、いろいろな英訳の仕方があると思いますが、今回の場合は、
Nobody’s fault but mine
ですかね〜。「誰のせいでもありゃしない。みんなオイラが悪いのさ」という意味ですね〜。ははは。
