This morning I introduced one of my friends to the wonderful world of swimming at the rocky shore of Shimane Peninsula. He had moved to Matsue City a few years ago and had already enjoyed the wonderful but apparently less exciting swimming at a shallow sandy beach of the peninsula. The depth of water at the rocky shore is much greater than that at a sandy beach in general, and that’s why the swimming at the rocky shore can be sometimes much more dangerous while it can be more exciting for some people. Giving necessary safety tips to him, I also enjoyed swimming at the very calm sea between Uomiyama and Akaiwa in Mitsu. We did some fishing too, but it was already after 8 a.m. and no fish got interested in our lures.
（今朝は、友人の一人を、島根半島の磯における、素晴らしき海水浴の世界に案内しました。数年前に松江市に引っ越してきた彼は、島根半島の浅い砂浜における、素晴らしいのだけれども、どうやらやや刺激には欠ける海水浴なら、既に楽しんでいました。一般的に磯は、砂浜よりもずっと水深があるため、磯における水泳は、ある種の人々にとってより刺激的なものになる一方で、時にはずっと危険なものともなってしまいます。必要な安全の心得を彼に伝えつつ、私もまた、御津の魚見山から赤岩の間、非常に穏やかな海での水泳を楽しみました。我々は釣りもしましたが、すでに午前８時を過ぎており、ルアーに興味を示す魚はいませんでした。）
