I got into the habit of spending time at the
shore of Lake Shinji around sunset. It takes only a few minutes on foot to get
to the lake from my home. The weather has been very nice. Talking to
fishermen while casting favorite lures is very fun.

Just after sunset, some fish started splashing around on the surface of the water. First I though they were gray mullets, but it was a needlefish that attacked my Hopkins No=Eql. The fish measured 90 cm (35.5 in.). A short while later a bit smaller one hit my Super Strike Super “N” Fish. This type of lure is called a needlefish plug in the U.S. Wow. A needlefish caught a needlefish!!

（日が沈むとすぐに、魚たちが水面をバシャバシャやり始めました。ボラだろうと最初は思いましたが、私のホプキンス No=Eqlを攻撃してきたのはダツでした。90センチの大きさです。しばらくして、今度は少し小さいのがスーパーストライク・スーパー“N”フィッシュを襲ったのでした。このタイプのルアーは米国でニードルフィッシュ（ダツ）プラグと呼ばれます。すごいですね。ダツがダツをつかまえました!!）
