A variety of wild plants are growing rapidly along the path toward Saruwatari, one of the best fishing spots in Nonami. When I was climbing down the path this early morning, I noticed that some areas of the path were almost covered with the weeds. I slipped on one of such treacherous areas. I was thrown off my balance, and my fishing rod crashed against a rock. If I had not held it firmly, I might have fallen down seriously. Unfortunately the tip of my rod snapped. My rod sacrificed its tip for me. Without the rod tip, I was not able to do much fishing this morning. Instead, I cut the weeds along the path in order to prevent a similar tragedy from happening to other fishermen.
（野波における最高の釣り場の一つ、猿渡へと至る小道沿いでは、様々な野生の草木が盛んな勢いで生育中です。今朝早く、その小道を伝い降りていると、雑草が地面をほとんど覆い隠しそうになっている場所があることに気づきました。油断のならないそういう場所の一つで、私は足を滑らせてしまったのです。バランスを崩した私は、釣り竿を岩に激しくぶつけてしまいました。もしも竿をしっかり持っていなかったら、私は本格的に転んでいたかもしれません。残念なことに竿の先端が折れてしまいました。私のために竿が犠牲になってくれたのです。竿先がないので、今朝は大した釣りはできませんでした。代わりに私は、同じような悲劇が他の釣り人に起きないよう、小道沿いの草刈りをしました。）
