I was planning to go to Saruwatari or Safuki-bana in Nonami via Owashi this morning, but the seaside road in Mitsu was blocked due to a possible landslide. I had to made a U-turn. I drove back toward Lake Shinji, where I enjoyed my casting practice with the combination of 11’ Lamiglas Insane surf rod and PENN 706Z reel. I had added an extra rod guide between the first and the second guides of the rod last year, but, now that I don't use the braided line any more and use only a nylon monofilament line called “Gaim,” I don’t think I would need the additional guide. So I took it off. When I was enjoying the fun and easy casting practice with the nylon line, two cheerful girls approached me and asked, “What could you catch here?” I replied, “Are you tourists? If so, I have something to tell you because I am a self-appointed tourism ambassador for Matsue.” They were tourists from Tochigi Prefecture and looked curious, so I started my routine explanation of Lake Shinji, such as “This lake is brackish, so it has a variety of freshwater and saltwater fish.” Then, as a special gift, I gave them several kakis I had picked at Daiouji Temple the other day and wished them a nice and happy sightseeing. You don't need to lament when you are unable to go fishing. Unexpected and even better fun might wait for you.
（今朝は、大芦を経由して野波の猿渡かサフキ鼻に行く予定でしたが、御津の海沿いの道路が、土砂崩れの恐れから通行止めになっているのでした。Ｕターンせざるを得ません。私は宍道湖へと車を走らせ、11フィートのラミグラス・インセイン・サーフロッドとPENN 706Zリールの組み合わせで、キャスティング練習を楽しみました。昨年、このロッドの第１ガイドと第２ガイドの間に、ガイドを追加したのですが、私はもう、PEラインは使わず「ガイム」というナイロンラインだけしか使わないので、追加ガイドは必要ないだろうと思い、外しました。ナイロンラインで気楽にキャスティング練習をしていると、元気な女の子二人組みが近づいてきて「何が釣れるんですか？」と聞いてきました。私は「観光客の方ですか？ もしそうなら、松江の自称観光大使である私から、お話したいことがあるのです」と答えました。彼女たちは栃木県から観光に来たそうで、興味津々の様子だったので、私は、いつものように宍道湖の解説を始めました。例えば「この湖は汽水湖なので、淡水魚も海水魚も、いろいろいるんですよ」などといった話です。そして、大雄寺で採った柿をプレゼントし、楽しい観光となることを祈願しました。釣りができないからといって嘆く必要はないですね。予想もしなかった、もっと楽しいことが、あなたを待っているかもしれません。）
