I prefer the nylon monofilament line to the braided line (PE line), although I know the latter has more advantages than the former. I love fishing (or “non-fishing”), but I am not very good at fishing. When I use the braided line, I cannot avoid some troubles. The nylon line is kinder and more forgiving to me. Still, I had to use the braided line for my spinning tackle. The nylon line stretches very much, but the braided line doesn’t at all. Thanks to this quality, it’s much easier to maneuver an American pencil popper with the braided line. However, it might change. This afternoon I tried a cheap new nylon line called “Gaim,” manufactured by Yamatoyo, and I was able to maneuver one of my poppers as easily as with the braided line. “Gaim” is a nylon line, so it stretches but seemingly not as much as other nylon lines. Thanks to “Gaim,” I may be able to leave the braided line for good. And there was a bonus today. I caught a young Japanese amberjack on my Salas JPOT Light Surface Iron Jigs (baby poop). I go only with the nylon line from now on.
