Having left the mystery of Etomo Harbor behind, I drove to Ikesu in Etomo this afternoon. Ikesu is one of the most beautiful fishing spots in the Shimane Peninsula. In particular, the view from the path on the hillside leading to the fishing spot is sublime. The path is a bit frightening because one of the sides is a cliff. I used to see an old local resident working at a garden along the path. He also proudly maintained the path, and I was always grateful to him. However, I have not seen him for a long time, and now the path looks different than before. It has become more dangerous, too. Rocks of various sizes piled up at some points of the path. They had rolled down from the mountain, but now there is nobody who is willing to remove them.
（恵曇港のミステリーを忘れることにした私は、今日の午後、恵曇の生須に向かいました。生須は、島根半島において、最も美しい釣り場の一つです。とりわけ、釣り場へと続く山の中腹の小道からの眺めは抜群です。この小道は、その片側が絶壁であるため、少々怖い気がします。以前は、小道沿いの畑で働かれている地元のご老人をお見かけしたものでした。このご老人は、小道の維持管理にも、誇らしげに、精を出しておられたのです。私はいつも、この方に感謝していました。しかし、長い間、このご老人をお見かけしていません。今では小道は、以前とは様子が変わってしまいました。また、以前よりも危険になっています。様々な大きさの石が、小道のそこかしこに積もっているのです。山から転げ落ちてきた石なのですが、今では、それらを進んで除去しようとする人がいないのです。）
