I confess I broke the rule. Finally I used a Japanese lure. Since my last post, I have been to Nanbo in Etomo Harbor three times. The breakwater is the primary destination to which I plan to take the friends of mine for their first lure fishing trip next week. I chiefly used the tuned-up Sea Striker Got-Cha plugs, but no big predatory fish seemed around along the shore and I did not catch any fish. Instead I saw a few bait fishermen catching the Japanese whiting. It is three lovely ladies that I am going to guide next week. Although I already implied them that you get skunked often when it comes to fishing, their expectations might have been raised. So I gave in to the temptation. I drove to a fishing tackle shop to buy a Japanese rig for the Japanese whiting with a pack of Japanese-made small biodegradable plastic worms. Wow! It was amazing how quickly I caught a Japanese whiting and a scorpion fish. If American lures fail next week, I will let my guests use it.
