I was at Etomo Harbor in the early morning. One of a few fishermen who came earlier told me they did not catch any fish. He was using Japanese lures. This was another evidence that Japanese lures are equally ineffective now. With American lures, I did not catch any fish either. So I took pictures of my silhouettes projected on a huge white breakwater.
（早朝、恵曇港に行きました。私より先に来ていた数人の釣り人の一人によると、何も釣れていないとのことです。彼は日本のルアーを使っていました。今は日本のルアーでも魚が釣れないことが、これで証明されたわけです。アメリカのルアーを使う私もまた、何も釣れません。だから私は、巨大な白い防波堤に映る自分のシルエットを撮りました。）
Then I moved to the rocky area next to Koura Public Beach. No fish again. I took pictures of hermit crabs in the shallow water. They are called "Yadokari" in Japanese, which means a tenant. They look like a sea snail but actually are a crustacean renting a vacant sea shell. There have been plenty of them in the beach since my childhood.
（そして古浦海水浴場の隣の岩場へ移動です。そこでも何も釣れません。浅瀬にいるヤドカリの写真を撮りました。ヤドカリ、つまり「宿借り」は、巻き貝のように見えますが、実は、空き家になった貝殻を借りて住んでいる甲殻類です。私が子供の頃から、この磯にはたくさんのヤドカリがいます。）
On my way back to one of parking lots, I saw an older local man. He asked me if I did catch any fish, and then gently said, "No fish is around right now. They are in the deep sea. Come back in March.”
（駐車場へ戻る道すがら、地元のご老人にお会いしました。ご老人は、私に魚が釣れたかどうか尋ねると、優しい口調でこう言いました。「今はなんだい魚は釣れませんが。深いとこに行ってしまっちょうけん。３月においでなさいませ」）
私も３月まで動きません・・・・来月になったら遊んでください。

ichiさん、九州遠征が吹雪で撃沈とは難儀でしたね。春が待ち遠しいですね〜。
