I started fishing at Ohtoko-bana in Izumo City at dawn. I was the first to arrive at the spot, but two fishermen soon came and started fishing next to me. They used metal jigs, probably Japanese ones, while I was using American big plugs. Which lures are more effective? Japanese or American? However, this accidental competition reached no conclusion. Nobody caught any fish. One of the fishermen said to me, “Sea robin and fat greenling have been caught lately.”

I gave up Ohtoko-bana. Going up and down the rocky hill, I moved to the next spot, Kobanare. Remembering I had caught many sea robins when I was in the U.S., I took out a Tsunami Ball Jig. I let it sink to the bottom of the sea and bounced it up and down on the seabed. This is the method effective in catching sea robins in New York. Soon I felt a faint bite. I caught a scorpion fish instead of a sea robin. Then, carefully walking on the steep rocky slope, I moved to Nagasaki-bana but caught nothing there.
